Strategy & Positioning

Brand Positioning

Strategy, creative and performance, built as one growth system. Scoped as a standalone project or run inside a Solando engagement.

The strategic claim your business makes to the market, and the reason the right customers choose you over the alternatives. Grounded in evidence, written to be used every day.

What it is

Brand positioning is the place your business holds in a buyer’s mind compared with the alternatives: who it’s for, what it replaces, and why it’s the better choice.

Strong positioning shortens sales cycles and protects your prices, because buyers understand your value before the first call.

When positioning is the real problem.

The symptoms

Weak positioning rarely looks like a brand problem. It shows up as business symptoms:

  • Customers compare you on price, because they can’t see the difference.
  • Sales cycles get longer and prospects need many touches to “get it”.
  • Your team describes the business differently in every meeting.
  • Marketing produces a lot, but nothing builds on what came before.

The product is usually fine. The claim isn’t. We see this pattern again and again: in our case studies, the client usually came to us for a design or visibility problem that turned out to be a positioning problem.

How we work · 4 steps

How we work.

01

Research. Interviews with your team and customers, a competitive landscape review, and an analysis of how buyers currently choose in your category.

02

Define. Who you serve, what you replace, and the claim only you can make credibly, written as a positioning statement with a supporting narrative.

03

Test. We validate the positioning in real buyer conversations before you commit to it publicly.

04

Roll out. Messaging pillars, proof points and a practical plan so sales, marketing and hiring all use the same language from day one.

Selected work.

01

UNETEL. The client thought it had a design problem. The diagnosis showed the association had never stated its strategic role publicly. We defined the positioning first, then rebuilt the brand system, website and social strategy on top of it. View the case study →

02

Bus Software (Winicari). A Tunisian transport-tech startup with a strong product and no commercial narrative. We built its brand identity, pitch and communication kit for four different audiences: competition juries, investors, institutional partners and transport operators. The result: Bus Software was selected as a laureate of the AFD Digital Challenge 2020 (Sustainable City category), named among the top 10 African startups of 2020, and received up to €20,000 in support. FAQ

Common questions.

Positioning is the strategy: what you stand for and why you win. Identity is how that strategy looks and sounds: name, logo, colours, tone. We define positioning first, so the identity has something true to express.

Usually 4 to 6 weeks, including research and validation.

Usually it’s the best time. A clear claim before a launch or raise is much cheaper than repositioning after one.

If your offer, audience or market has changed, yes. Otherwise the new site repeats the old message in a new design.

How this fits

Where this sits in the growth system.

Brand Positioning can be scoped as a standalone project or delivered inside one of Solando’s three engagement formats. Most engagements use it as a component of the Build or as ongoing work inside the System.
